This home was designed for a local developer as a spec home on the plaza. It is located on Ward Parkway and faces Brush Creek on the West end of the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. The client wanted a traditional style home and decided on the Mediterranean look. The property is partially in the 50 year flood plain and the client wanted a lower level (basement) for additional amenities. That required that an engineered pad be built up on the site to elevate the lower level just above the flood plain. The split level design was utilized in order to provide garage space at a grade to be easily accessed from the street. The single garage door on the right allows vehicular access to the lower level where 3-5 cars can be parked. The home has a large Master Bedroom Suite on the first floor with a sitting room, office, laundry and large luxury bath. Also on the first floor is a grand two story living room with full height glass wall to the back yard, a large kitchen with dumbwaiter to the garage and walk in pantry, and large family room and a bistro off of the main entry foyer. The second floor has three additional bedrooms each with their own private bath, a sitting room between the two east bedrooms, a larger in home theater off the second floor lobby that overlooks the grand living room below, an event room with a full kitchen and direct access to the deck over the garage. The roof over the kitchen was designed to be a green roof and has the capability to carry up to 18" of earth supporting the growth of small decorative trees. The HVAC system is geo-thermal with 4 - 400 foot geo-thermal wells, hot water for the home is provide by 2 tank less water heaters, one at each end of the home. With SIP wall and roof panels this is a very energy efficient home even with it large 6,000+ SF size.
