The View Condominiums was the first major project in Kansas City for the Reeder Family Trust. This structure, originally known as Bella Vista, a retirement center for teachers, was a week away from the wrecking ball when Wayne Reeder purchased it. It had set vacant for more than a decade and was known as little Beirut and the home of a number of vagrants. There was literally nothing left of the building except the concrete structure.
b+a architecture was asked to provide architectural services for the project to help turn it around and develop it as high end condominiums. Demo work and cleaning up the project and installing new glazing systems started immediately. We prepared the design work for all the units, the amenities, pool and garage area. We also prepared custom plan modifications for some of the condominium buyers. Within less than a year units were ready for occupancy and within 2 years the project was generally sold out and has become a well know landmark in the downtown area of Kansas City.
