2600 Independence Mixed-use Development Breaks Ground

Breaking ground on a project that you’ve worked on for months is always an exciting moment. We were delighted to see the ground broken at 2600 Independence Boulevard in Kansas City last week.

This project has a special place in the hearts of the team here at B+A Architecture. The developer first came to us a year ago, needing help with this project. We were delighted to have the opportunity to be involved.

Fast-forward a year and the permits are all in place for a 20,000 square foot, mixed-use building that will be a real addition to the local area. The seven ground-floor commercial units will include retail premises, a beauty salon and a restaurant with a spacious outdoor dining patio. The second floor will be home to 15 one-bedroom apartments.

2600 Independence will also include a memorial to Kansas City Firefighters Larry Leggio and John Mesh, who gave their lives while fighting a fire on the site in 2015. We are delighted to have been able to honor their sacrifice as part of this important new development. We look forward to seeing it taking shape over the months ahead.
