The developer of Wall Street Condominiums was looking for a way to construct a swimming pool with other amenities on top of their 13 story parking garage. A structure had to be designed to basically suspend a swimming pool above the down ramp on the upper level of the parking garage. The pool was designed to be a cast-in-place concrete shell and waterproofing of that shell was critical. We turned to a company called Kryton to assist us in solving that problem. Krystol Internal Membrane (KIM) ( http://www.kryton.com) was added to the concrete mix. "When combined with water, KIM’s proprietary chemicals react to form millions of needle-like crystals. These crystals grow and fill the capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete, blocking the flow of water. As time passes and stresses form new cracks, any incoming moisture causes the crystals to reactivate – ensuring continuous waterproofing over the years." There were two sections of the pool, an upper lap pool and a lower wading. An infinity edge was utilized between the two pools to create interest and serve as a skimmer for the lap pool.
In addition to the pool, Cabana areas were designed along the east side of the pool, a large deck for lounging, a putting green, restrooms with showers and a grilling and picnic area.
